Home: I suppose home is a relative word. We just got back from being in the United States for two and a half months. While we are there we say, “We are home visiting with family and friends.” Then when we come back to Romania, we say, “We are home and getting back to normal.” We tell the kids that we have more than one home, but actually, our home is not here on this earth. Our home is in Heaven. Praise the Lord! |

Trials: We are glad to be back, but it seems that the things that were worrying me before I left have hit me square in the face. Fighting with the government for visas so that we can stay here and do what God has called us to do, and for permits for our building projects, are constant battles. Also, school is starting back, and we have our usual problems with kids dropping out of school. Persani, where our gypsies are, is where we have the worst problem with this. Thirteen and fourteen year olds drop out of school and go and do migrant work to help their families survive the winter. I spent my week this week trying to explain to many of these families that this is how the cycle of poverty continues, but it is hard to argue with hunger and cold. |

Blessings: In my absence the churches at Ghimbav, Dumbravita, and Persani have all continued to do well. Several have come to know Jesus Christ as Savior. I don’t have written letters from each church yet for the month, but I have talked with the pastors and have gotten good reports. Seminary Started back this month and we have 19 attending. I am thankful to God for these. Pray With Us: There is much to do here, and few to do it. Pray God would call laborers into the field (Mt 9:37-38). Pray for this country and for us as we labor here. From the Pastor: It had been 5 years since Gail and I traveled to Romania to view what God was doing through the Robert Blume Family. On August 26, Gail and I along with Bro. Matthew McBroom returned to Romania. We were there for 2 weeks. To say it was a great trip would not be sufficient to describe it. To see the success and the stability of the three churches there confirmed again what God can do when He is involved in what is being done. It continues to be a country with big problems but as I met and fellowshipped with the brothers and sisters there, the words of a song described the feeling in my heart: “Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place”. The Blumes are being used of God to make an eternal difference in the lives of many people there. To view the commitment of the people there, many of whom are college age, brought joy to my heart. I encourage the churches who are a part of this work to begin to make plans to send your pastor to see what you are accomplishing. It was also a joy to see Sister Brenda and the work going on at Emmanuel House. Please keep all of the workers there in your prayers. God’s sustaining grace is surely needed by Bro. Blume. There is so much on his shoulders. |
