October 2002

Ghimbav:

The month of October has been a really good month for the church in Ghimbav.  The opening day of school this year was a big celebration.  The second room is finished, so they can have 2 classes this year.

Also, we started a room for the youth at the church in the basement.  It is coming along nicely and will serve as an extra Sunday School class as well as a room for youth meetings and other activities.

Dumbravita:

Dumbravita’s pastor, Brother Nelu got engaged to be married this month.  His wife to be is a young Christian lady from the Baptist church in Medias.  The ceremony will be sometime this spring.  We are very happy for him.

The church in Dumbravita had 2 special evangelism services this month, one last Saturday night (Oct 19) and one on Sunday night (Oct 20).  Saturday night was at the church and there were 350 people crowded into the auditorium.  Sunday night in the middle of the village they showed the film “Jesus”, on an outside wall.  Praise God that people heard and accepted the message of salvation

Also, Sunday night, October 26, in Dumbravita we had a “Thanksgiving” service with all three of our churches together.  We greatly enjoyed worshipping God together and thanking Him for His many blessings.

Persani:

The work in Persani has been very difficult.  The gypsies are not used to order in their life.  They do not go to school faithfully, or work faithfully, or come to church faithfully.  This struggle may be the greatest of my life.  Keep them in your prayers, that they might have the will and ability to change.  God is their only hope.

Emmanuel House:

The women’s and children’s home is doing well.  We are doing outside work now, redoing the outside front of the house, and will be putting a new roof on Sister Brenda’s part of the house.  Due to problems with the work crew, construction has been going very slow.  When the snows come we want to begin working on the downstairs bedrooms.  I want to say thanks to my Dad, Frank Blume, who will be coming the first of November to be in charge of construction for 3 months.

Church Camp:

Thanks to the help of other missionaries, Bro Doug Weirsoma, Bro Steve Rutherford, and Bro Jim Black, we were able to finish the foundation for the main building at camp Stramba.  We have also been given the great opportunity to purchase a piece of land beside the camp giving us an extra acre and a half for about $2,000.
