MISSION WORK

As I was sitting in our Saturday evening youth meeting I began to think all about the different aspects of mission work. When we began the work here everything was new. It was hard work, but very rewarding.  If we wanted someone to come to church we had to convert him or her. We spent most of our time doing evangelistic work. It was new, exiting and we had lots of results. After a few years we were able to start three works with lots of young Christians. That is when I began to learn that making the babies (Christians) was not the hard part. The hard part is taking responsibility for them and trying to raise them up in the way that they should go (Proverbs 22:6). I have learned that when you make a convert, there is also a lot of God given responsibility. I do not believe that any of us would bring a child into this world and simply leave it to feed itself, clothe itself, teach itself, etc., yet that is what happens so many times in the work of the Lord.

I do not think that this is what God desires from us. Right now as I watch our three churches I see so many different needs and know that they are depending on God through us to supply them with the teaching and maturity that will equip them with the ability to grow into strong churches that will last throughout the ages (3 John 2). All this takes time and patience. Mission work is not just about masses being saved. People come to know Christ one at a time; afterward they are brought into the family of God, baptized, and discipled (taught to obey all things that Christ commanded us) so that they can become self-reproducing disciple makers themselves (Matthew 28:19).  Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to lead these people to Christ and try to raise them to Christian adulthood.

THANK YOU

We wanted to say a big thank you to Bro. Larry Chandler from Center and Bro. Linard Dowling from Alto, and to their churches. They came this month and worked on the downstairs rooms at Emmanuel House. They were able to get the sheetrock done and I can’t tell you what a blessing this was.

These past few months there have been some changes in the country of Romania. They have changed our visa requirements and also are putting a lot of requirements as far as paperwork and so on for the women and children’s home. With the churches and all of the paperwork I do everyday, I am not able to do construction too. Their coming to work freed me to do what I need to do. Hopefully very soon the four bedrooms downstairs will be ready.  Thank you again and God bless you both.

HAPPY ENDING

Most of you know about the first mother and her child that we took in from Sercaia. When they came to us 3 years ago they had been living in the park. Claudia was 22 and Cristina was 2. I won’t even try to go into detail about all that we have been through with them. We have been on an emotional roller coaster to say the least.

This past month Claudia found a job at a greenhouse and she also found a small house to rent with a yard and a garden. Cristina is in Kindergarten and we keep her on the weekends when Claudia has to work. Please keep these precious souls in your prayers. Pray that Claudia will keep her job and their house and continue to come to church. It is hard for her as a single mother without any family. Our family and the church have adopted them, but the influence of Satan is always at work.

MISSIONARY QUOTE:

“To be a missionary, first there should be a total commitment to God, then to a country, and finally to a mission. Then you must be a specialist in one or two areas, and very good in several others. Bring along a tuxedo to meet the president and overalls to do whatever work comes to hand.”  Clarence W. Jones and Reuben Larson
